Where Nader stands.

Just so it's clear, here's a little more Nader for your tater.

http://www.votenader.org/index.html

I don't necessarily agree with Universal Healthcare, but I think all the canidates think we should have it - so I don't see us getting out of that one.

And as much as I don't like W and Cheney I don't really care if they are impeached or not.

Yes you can put your money down on the fact that we are sliding downhill into the pit of hell better know as socialism. Universal healthcare...means state run healthcare, means they run our schools and soon our healthcare and trying hard to run what goes on inside our homes....big brother is here to stay.

Actually, I don't think you would notice one iota if we went to universal health care. It may reduce your premiums a bit, but you would have the same docs, etc. What it would really mean is that for the vast unwashed and uninsured that they would continue to recieve their free health care, but that the gov't might pull a bit from their EIC refunds of $5000 or $6000 they get every year because they won't get off their butts, get an education, and earn more than $7.00/hr. They are offered insurance and decline it because they don't want to pay for it. So they suck up hospitals' resources by using the ER as their primary care physician, racking up hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid bills (say, if they are in a wreck and broke their leg), and think they are entitled to free healthcare at OUR expense. I totally agree with HIL's plan, that everyone ought to pay SOMETHING, if nothing else than to have them take responsibility for their own care rather than waiting on my tax dollars to take care of them. Better to force gov't responsibility than to continue gov't dole outs that keep losers hanging on the tit.

Hey why did you delete my comment? Is this a liberal conspiracy to keep the truth from reaching the people?

Luckily I still had it in an email.

From Scott:
Like I said "socialism is here and it is not going away" too many people are on the free ride/victim mentality and there is no simple answer, so the people who do have enough ambition to try and get ahead pay for those who don't. If we were in a hunt and gather society I wonder how many of those content to live off of the govmnt would continue to do so. I think people can excuse their lack of ambition because they believe the govmnt is so large that one more wont even be noticed. Kind of like people who excuse stealing from big companies, saying that the company is big enough it wont hurt them. As long as we continue to allow it and promote it and feed the victim mentality it will continue to grow. Regardless of who comes up with the plan. Ask europeans, state run health care means more red tape and more waiting and more continuance of the victim mentality. Government's primary responsibility is to preserve and protect the people that created it. We have allowed it grow into a beast that can't be controlled and is ravenously attempting to grow into more and more areas. so Actually and Factually more government does not equal better situation. But like I said, it is here and it is not going away.

Yeah, like I said, I'm not a fan of universal health care (I hate this is TWO words, btw) in almost any form.

But, I agree with Scottie. It doesn't matter - It's coming.

I am all for taking care of the poor and uninsurable - to a point.

If it means MY FAMILY's health care has to suffer, screw it. If my family has to wait to get treatment to something that could, and let's not even say "kill" but just get worse a little bit - no thanks.

Unfortunately I do see insurance companies similar to oil companies. Why do they continue to have big getting bigger getting HUGER profits if they are at all looking out for anyone? They could EASILY afford to stop raising our rates, or even just not raise them AS much.

My insurance guy is constantly telling me (we talk often as I'm working on his website right now) stories of Canadians enrolling in school in the U.S., or getting a Visa, whatever it takes when a family member is ill - for our health care.

The rich will always have doctors at their disposal. The poor will always have what they want/need handed to them. The middle class, regular Joe will take it up the ARSE like we always do.

Well, my point, in case you didn't get it because you think I am a strait liberal without a valid opinion, is that I agree that I don't want a non-paying "victim" (as Scott calls them. If they are victims it is of their own poor decisions) taking up my time in the ER when I have a life-threatening emergency either. You guys are speaking from some rhetoric but I am here, at the hospital, and know what kind of people come in here and use the ER for their doctor, drop mama off here cause they are tired of taking care of here, decide we are the place to come get dried out or de-coked. NONE of these people have insurance (of course) and NONE of these people will ever pay a dime. It is all easy and wonderful to say that govt should stay out of everything, that is the idealistic propaganda that Ron Paul preaches. But what is your solution to 92 year old grandma left at the hospital cause the family can't take care of her and she has no insurance. Put her outside the ER into the street? Get the cops to go get the family and force them to take grandma back home? All I said is that I agree that everyone should take responsibility for their own. Some people you have to force to do this. And, unfortunately for the conservative idealist, UAB will not take a crop of corn as barter for your surgery. The doctors already have enough corn. lol

heh - whoa there tiger! I'm not mister uber-conservative. My butt starts hurting from riding this fence constantly.

I'm saying the government will NEVER just leave the poor without a solution.

I see the signs in the hospital saying "we cannot deny you treatment, no matter if you can pay or not".

They already DO provide them with health care.

What is to be gained by switching up the system? I mean the new system wouldn't stop any of the aforementioned activities at the ER would it?

C'mon, straighten me out Whites.

I am tempted to come to the defense of my son and namesake when he is being attached by White Alabama tag team. However, I have a long standing policy of keeping my real opinions inside my head and not suffer them to the light of day and the unkind scrutiny of others. Therefore I seldom offer any pearls of wisdom, only sad attempts at sarcasm and humor. I will make an exception regarding the political discussion and offer one sincere and heartfelt comment: Nader? You got to be kiddin!!

Ok, I meant to write "attacked", not "attached"

As usual Libs don't make sense. The govt should "force" people to care for their own? This from the defender of personal freedom? If the docs have enuff corn how bout some corn likker?

my only point was that no matter who gets elected we're too far down the road to socialism to stop. and just because Hillary promotes it doesn't make it go down any easier. I wish George W would have come up with the idea, then I would blindly follow him. : }

Come on PopLewis step out of that corner you baby boomers have painted us all in.
